Schools Closure Due to Rise of Coronavirus [Covid-19] . A special meeting of inter-provincial education ministers, chaired by Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, was held at the National Command and Operations Center to review the status of cases in educational institutions during the second wave of Corona.

The meeting was attended by all the provincial education ministers through video link and a briefing was given on the current situation of Corona in the country and educational institutions while the winter schedule was also considered. It was said in the meeting that the cases of Corona in educational institutions have increased to a dangerous level. According to sources, the meeting considered the proposal to extend the winter holidays from November to January, but the final decision in this regard will be taken by the National Coordinating Committee.

Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said that the lives of children and teachers are most dear but the decision to close the school has not been taken yet. He said that the decision regarding educational institutions would have to be implemented by all.

The meeting of inter-provincial education ministers was later adjourned for a week and a decision on school closures would be taken a week later. It should be noted that the coronary case positive rate in the country has exceeded 7%.
